Historic Places to visit

Walking down the Great Wall of China or visiting the Roman Colosseum, history has left us momentous opportunities to visit the relics of different periods. The ability to transport to a different time helps to understand where cultures and traditions grew from. Traveling is an adventure, it finishes us a little different from when we started. So let's take that first step in exploring the unknown.

1. Machu Picchu, Peru
The citadel for Incan civilization.

2. Angkor Wat, Cambodia
Once Hindu changed to a Buddhist temple and the largest religious monument in the world.



3. Great Wall of China
Built across the historical northern borders of China to protect and consolidate territories.

4. Taj Mahal, India
Built by Emperor Shah Jahan in loving memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal.

5. Colosseum, Italy
Used for gladiatorial contest and public spectacles such as mock sea battles.



6. Pyramids of Giza, Egypt
To prepare for the afterlife Pharaohs would have temples and massive tombs built.



7. Petra, Jordan
An ancient, historical, and archaeological city in southern Jordan that dates back to the 4th century B.C.

8. Tikal, Guatemala
The capital of the state that became one of the most powerful kingdoms of the ancient Maya.

9. Stonehenge, England
Mysterious prehistoric Stone circle, we may never know exactly why it was built.

10. The Parthenon, Greece
Dedicated temple to the city's patron deity Athena.




11. Easter Island, Chile
Moai status scattered all over the island is another mystery in understanding the circumstances for these creations.



These historic sites have contributed to where we are today. Understanding the circumstances and needs for these sites is awe-inspiring. While others don't know the needs for the creations but understanding the hard work to erect these monuments is enough to pique our interest in the why.
